Over the years, DirectMart has been a consultant to various MNCs and also to the SME segment. It has provided services in the areas of Strategy, Marketing and Training. It usually starts its client engagements with a Strategy Workshop for the Top Management – this then leads to the creation of a road-map and a Go To Market plan. DirectMart’s Strategy and Lead Generation services are sought after by most B2B companies.
DirectMart, while primarily being a consultancy organisation, helps see its recommendations through - all the way to implementation and completion. This is done through the services of a core team, a virtual team and a host of vendors that DirectMart has worked with and groomed over the years. Way back in 1999, DirectMart was the first company in India to create and nurture a virtual team comprising ex-working women from MNCs such as Citibank, HSBC and various other companies including advertising agencies. DirectMart has also employed several students from MICA, Bajaj, NMIMS, and NL Dalmia etc. to assist on live client projects.
Ajoy Vakil – Chief Executive
Ajoy left the corporate world as President – Lintas Direct in 1999, to set up DirectMart India. An MBA (MMS) from SP Jain Institute (1987), he has a total work experience of over 25 years – a major portion of which has been with various MNCs including The Taj Group Of Hotels, O&M Direct (OgilvyOne) as its Mumbai representative, JWT (as head of what is now known as RMG Connect) and Lintas, among others.

        An ISO certified Sales & Marketing specialist (1999), Ajoy brings with him the knowledge and experience of working with various MNCs, coupled with a good exposure and a great understanding of SMEs (including their constraints and aspirations).

At DirectMart, he has had the privilege of being retained as a consultant by 4 of his past employers, including the Taj Group Of Hotels.

         He has been a Strategy and Marketing Consultant to several companies, including MNCs and SMEs - many of them being Technology Driven Businesses – including products on the SaaS platform. His Advertising and Direct Marketing background and his experience/comfort with Technology Driven Businesses give him a distinct advantage when it comes to the Digital/New Media!

He has been a Guest/Visiting Faculty at some of the top B-Schools, such as IIM, Bajaj, NMIMS, ICFAI, MICA, NL Dalmia, SIMSREE, and M.E.T. etc. He has also been on the admissions Interview Panels of MICA and M.E.T.

Client Engagements:
Ajoy, during his tenure with the Direct Marketing units of various agencies has spear-headed several Direct Marketing exercises (Lead Generation and Relationship Building) for clients such as British Airways, Taj Group, Unilever, DHL, Air India, Mercedes Benz, ANZ Grindlays Bank, Welcomgroup, J&J, Blow Plast (VIP Luggage & Klober Office Furniture) Kodak and Crompton Greaves etc. He has also helped create, launch and manage India’s first Frequent Flyer Programme – Flying Returns (for Air India & Indian Airlines) and has created/managed several other Loyalty Programmes subsequently. Today, Ajoy is deeply involved with the SME & Startup segments and helps them with their Strategy and Marketing. He also helps create develop and deliver Training Programs for this segment across all levels. He has launched an interesting open Programme for SMEs – MBA Concepts. This programme puts the most essential learnings of the MBA programme in a short 12-session capsule. Ajoy has also been a Strategy and Marketing consultant to several SMEs and start-up and has also helped several technology-driven companies, products and services – including SaaS products – for the past 15 years.
